Rolley Falls
The summer days are hot and getting even hotter. If you are looking for a way to cool off, you can hike the Rolley Falls Trail. There is an amazing waterfall waiting for you to swim in. I took my nieces to this waterfall and they loved it!
This is another hike that is located near Mission, BC. It was easy to get to which was nice! Rolley Lake Provincial Park has a large lake to swim in, a waterfall to dive into and 4.1 km of lake trail to walk through. The beach area by the lake is a wonderful spot with picnic tables set up and a white sandy beach to settle down in. The lake has an area sectioned off for the shallow end for small children to swim in. On the outskirts of the white buoys, you can take your inflatable, floatie, paddle board or kayak out onto the lake for a few laps around.
If you are in a walking mood, there is a scenic lake trail that goes all around the lake. One of the trails will meet up with the Rolley Falls Trail. This area is in the nearby campground. The trail has a warning posted at the trail marker to watch for logs and debris on the trail from past windstorms. This meant hopping over some tree stumps and logs to get through the trail but nothing to make us turn our way back. Once you go through the trail, you will find a pathway to the right, make sure you stay on the main path on the left. This will lead you down towards the falls. You will be able to hear the sound of water as you get closer. Walk over to the bridge and take a picture of the amazing Rolley Waterfall.
The swimming hole is a local secret. It was quiet and serene with only a few people who wanted to venture into the water. My nieces and I were warm from our hike so we decided to go for a swim. The water is moderate and you will enjoy the coolness on your skin. The falls itself has a 10 foot swimming hole but there are some shallow parts around the edges. Kids were jumping off the top of the falls into the swimming hole. We stayed in the water for almost 2 hours before we got dried off and headed to the picnic area to find a table so we could eat our lunch.
Rolley Falls is an amazing place if you're looking for a quick, peaceful dip during the summer.
