Cascade Falls Regional Park

I recently went exploring into the somewhat remote area of Mission, BC to the Cascade Falls Regional Park.  Cascade Falls is a scenic water fall which can be viewed from the suspension bridge that crosses the water.  There are platforms set up so you can get a clear view. Its a short 10 min walk from the parking lot and up some flights of stairs to reach the falls.

From the parking lot, follow the path to a metal gate that leads you to the trail on the right.  This pathway will take you through a couple of steep switchbacks before coming upon several wooden flights of stairs to reach the top of the falls to get that fantastic view of Cascade Falls. The falls plummet down 30 meters into an emerald pool below.

Walk across the suspension bridge to get a closer view and get some Instagram shots.  The bridge is 35 meters long and suspended 20 meters above Cascade Creek. Walk to the other side where there is a raised platform where you can be even closer to the falls.  You'll be able to feel the cool mist spray from the falls hitting your face as you take in the thunderous sounds of the water hitting down below.  After enjoying the view, head back across the bridge and head down towards the parking lot.

There is a gravel pathway on the left as you walk back to the parking lot.  From there, you will see a sign on the left to Cascade Creek. This trail leads down towards the creek from the waterfall, which runs 18 meters along the ravine.  Its a shallow enough creek that you can go swimming or at least cool off in on a hot sunny day.  The water is not too cold and perfect for little kids to splash in.

If so inclined, you can also access the bottom of the falls through the creek underneath the bridge and enjoy the falls even closer by going for a swim at the base of the falls.  I saw a few people sitting on rocks below the bridge enjoying the falls.  I'm sure there are warnings in place so please be careful.

This is a quick and easy hike for the whole family to do.  It takes some time to get to Mission to see the falls but the views are totally worth the trip!

Directions to Get There

Take Lougheed Highway/Hwy #7 east towards Mission.  Drive through Mission and turn left onto Sylvester Road.  You will see a sign pointing you to Cascade Falls Regional Park just before this intersection.  Follow Sylvester Road for about 15 km and then take a right on Ridgeview Road.  The parking lot is 800 meters down Ridgeview Road.
